The event was hosted at the Everyman Cinema and we loved hearing from all of the shortlisted architects:
Before the night, we were particularly excited to hear about Al-Jawad Pike's Chowdhury Walk scheme. For us, this scheme which has already won the RIBA London Award 2024, RIBA National Award 2024, and the Neave Brown Award 2024, shows how intelligent, innovative design can be employed on infill sites to provide new council homes for Hackney Council. On the night, we loved hearing about the design process and all the details involved in this scheme. It provides something for us to aim for at Chapter, because we would love to develop social housing with the same level of design quality and perhaps one of our upcoming schemes at Chapter can be put forward for a RIBA award or the Neave Brown Award soon!
We also enjoyed hearing about all the thoughtful details involved in Wraxall Yard, which delivered holiday accommodation for those with disabilities. The aim was to ensure Wraxall Yard didn't feel like it was designed for that purpose, and we were impressed with the thought that went into that.
Any of the shortlisted schemes would make a worthy winner, so good luck to all of them for next week's decision!
